Recognize the ongoing need to upskill for personal and professional growth. By the module’s end, you’ll be equipped to enhance your digital literacy and confidently shape your digital future. Digital Skills as a Basic Skill Digital Proficiency

In this module, you will gain a comprehensive understanding of the basic skills necessary in the digital world. You will also explore EU frameworks, policies, and initiatives targeted at promoting digital literacy in Europe. Additionally, you will learn how to identify barriers to digital inclusion and understand the importance of having a basic level of digital skills in the 21st century. To assess your current digital skills level, you will complete a digital skills test and review your strengths and weaknesses. Furthermore, you will recognise the importance of continuously upskilling your digital skills for personal and professional growth. By the end of this module, you will be equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to improve your digital literacy and take charge of your digital future.

Final Assessment Task

Create What You Know!

This activity aims to sharpen participants’ digital proficiency by challenging them to seamlessly integrate research, document creation, and email into a cohesive exercise.

Materials Required:

  • Laptop/Computer
  • Internet access
  • Web browser (Google Chrome, Firefox, etc.)
  • Canva – https://www.canva.com/ 
  • Email Address

Time Required:

Participants will need 1-2 hours to complete this task.

  • 45 minutes for research
  • 1 hour for creating the digital poster on Canva.
  • 15 minutes for emailing your poster.

Steps to Complete the Task

The participant should think of a conflict they have faced before, or might face in the future, linked to their own qualities or life context; and address it as if they were analysing it for a third person to whom they are giving a coaching session.

Step 1

On a laptop/personal computer, search on your chosen web browser relevant information regarding how one can improve their digital skills. Please refrain from using blogs that do not cite trustworthy sources.

Step 2

After you have finished researching, you are now able to get started with creating your tip sheet on improving digital skills on Canva. Make a list of 3-5 tips from your research in Step 1, as to how individuals can improve their basic digital literacy skills.

Step 3

Using your web browser, search https://www.canva.com/. This will lead you straight to the Canva website, where you will be asked to create a free account using your email address.

Step 4

Once Step 3 is completed, open up Canva and search for “Poster” to start creating your tip sheet.

Step 5

Next you will be provided with many templates to choose from. Click on your preferred template to start creating.

Step 6

 Begin playing around with your template. Adjust the layout, and change the colours, fonts, and elements on the page that you want your tip sheet to look like.

Step 7

Using Canva, prepare a tip sheet with the 3-5 relevant tips on improving digital skills, that you prepared in Step 2. Ensure that your tip-sheet poster is engaging and attracts others to read on why and how they can improve their basic digital skills.

Step 8

Once you have completed your tip sheet, you can download this to your device and then save it.

Step 9

 For the final step, open your email account and attach your tipsheet to your email to send to at least 3 of your contacts to inform them about how they can improve their digital skills.
